Santiago de Compostela, Spain, June 11, 2019. Taking advantage of its participation in the XX Congreso de la SEOR (Sociedad Española de Oncología Radioterápica - Spanish Society of Radiation Oncology), Eckert & Ziegler BEBIG is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of LDR Prostate Seed Brachytherapy in Spain.
20 years ago, the first prostate cancer patient was treated with LDR seeds and, since then, this treatment option experienced both broad acceptance and distribution. More than 30 centers are currently offering LDR brachytherapy, treating more than 1,000 patients annually in recent years. In the last 20 years, more than 16,000 patients have benefited from this treatment option. Spain’s strong tradition of brachytherapy can be largely attributed to the efforts of the SEOR and its brachytherapy working group. Being market leader for prostate seeds in Spain, Eckert & Ziegler BEBIG has been a long-time partner for many clinics.
On the occasion of the anniversary, the Eckert & Ziegler BEBIG team in Spain hosted a scientific event with 40 brachytherapy seed experts. The event included presentations and discussions on comparing LDR brachytherapy with other available treatment techniques.
