Klinikum St. Georg treats first patient with SagiNova® afterloader

Seneffe, Belgium, July 18, 2017, Klinikum St. Georg in Leipzig, Germany, has entered its SagiNova® HDR afterloader into operation by treating its first patient. The first treatment was a post-operative endometrial carcinoma brachytherapy.

Dr. André Liebmann, Head Physician at the Department of Radiation Therapy and Radiation Oncology, who successfully performed the treatment, presented the new afterloader unit and facilities back in June. The board of directors, colleagues, interested parties and local reporters were introduced to the SagiNova® system, comprising the treatment planning system SagiPlan® and corresponding applicators, such as the CT/MR Split Ring. "The formal inauguration was the result of one and a half years of work, to offer HDR brachytherapy as an additional effective cancer treatment", says Dr. Liebmann. "This unit further completes our radiation therapy range", he adds.
